Laditude To Mix Jazz & Rock At BRJS Show
November 10 at Meadowbrook Inn
By Jeff Eason
For some musicians jazz is an overriding passion comprising everything they listen to or play. For the Laderoutes it’s just one of many styles of
music that they have mastered over the years.
Ken and Amy Laderoute, the genesis of the band Laditute will perform jazz standards plus selections from their new album, Here, at a special
concert next week. The show is scheduled for Sunday, November 10th at the Artist’s Palate Restaurant at 7 p.m. and is part of this year’s Blowing
Rock Jazz Society Series.
The LaDeroutes formed the band Laditute from the ashes of their former group Cloud Nine and began working on the new album about five years
ago. Ken decided early on in the process of putting together new material that he wanted to be in control of every aspect of the album. Being a
natural multi-instrumentalist, that was easy, but he also had to learn the ins and outs of running a recording studio.
Here contains ten original songs written and performed by Ken with Amy on vocals with the exception of some added saxophone by Steve Davidowski.
The title of the album is taken from one of the strongest songs on the album.
“We got together with some friends before the album came out,” said Ken. “We were listening to the music and just about everyone acclaimed ‘Here’
as the best song on the album—the most emotive, the most feeling, a John Lennon type of song.”
Ken and Amy have been performing for music fans in the High Country for the past decade after relocating from Waterloo, Ontario. True musical
professionals, the Laderoutes are equally at home performing heart-wrenching ballads, rousing blues numbers a la Bonnie Raitt, or smoking jazz
tunes.
Admission for the show is $10 per person and free for all members of the Blowing Rock Jazz Society. For more information, contact the Artist’s
Palate Restaurant at 295-4300
