Hospitality House Holiday Ball Is Coming
Posted December 4, 2003 The Mountain Times
The invitations have been mailed, the band is booked, the decorations and menu are
planned…and it’s clear that this year’s Holiday Ball will be the biggest and best ever!!
The main fundraiser of the year for the Hearts of Hospitality, the auxiliary supporting the
Hospitality House, the Ball has become one of the most festive and anticipated events in the High Country.
Guests of the Ball will arrive at the Trillium Ballroom of the Broyhill Inn on the evening
of December 6th to be greeted by student volunteers from ACT (Appalachian/Community Together), providing valet parking and coat check
service.
Before entering the ballroom, guests will have an opportunity to check out the items in the
silent auction. This is a perfect opportunity to complete your Christmas shopping in one easy stop, all the while providing much needed funds for
a wonderful cause. A new feature of the auction will be a huge Christmas basket, filled with a wide variety of Christmas related
items—food-decorations-gifts—donated by the members of the Hearts of Hospitality. Be sure to bring your checkbook so that you can take advantage
of this great opportunity.
A cash bar will also be available, and guests are welcome to bring their own wine to enjoy
during the evening. A small corkage fee will be required. The music of “Laditude” will keep the party hoppin’ and the dancing lively.
A menu including roast pork, assorted seafood, spinach salad, and Broyhill’s famous sweet
potatoes and cranberries sautéed with toasted walnuts and apples (to name just a few) will delight hungry patrons.
The popular “All that Glitters” drawing will be returning with each guest receiving a box of
heavenly truffles and one lucky guest also finding an exquisite piece of jewelry. Mike Sweeting will be back to entertain us during the band
break with a live auction of items too fabulous to be included in the silent auction.
The entire evening will be filled with festivity and fun that no one will want to miss.
Local businesses are encouraged to consider sponsoring a table for the event—a great way to entertain important clients and host an office party
with none of the work—all the while helping those in the community who need a hand to get back on their feet. MolTox, Inc., diSanti, Watson,
Capua & Wilson, Appalachian Internal Medicine and The Glens of Grandfather are just a few of the area businesses that have signed
up for corporate sponsorships this year.
So won’t you join us? Get out your dancing shoes, your appetites for fun and food, your
checkbooks and your hearts for helping others…and meet us at the Holiday Ball on December 6th where an unforgettable evening is guaranteed. If,
for some reason, you can’t attend the Ball this year, consider making a contribution to the Hospitality House—perhaps in honor of a friend in
lieu of a Christmas gift—a generous gesture that is sure to put you in the holiday spirit! For ticket information and to make a donation to the
silent auction, contact Rose Bridgeman at 264-2733.
